Sun Protection

Protection from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays is important throughout the year, and not only during the summer “beach months.” UVA and UVB rays can cause sunburn and brown spots (“sun spots”). Exposure also quickens facial skin aging and increases risk of forming skin cancer.

UVA/UVB Skin Penetration

UVA:
  • Penetrates skin more deeply than UVB.
  • Plays a major role in accelerating photoaging: wrinkles, skin roughening, blotchy skin color, brown spots, poor skin tone, sallowness.
  • Can contribute to development of skin cancer.
UVB:
  • Penetrates skin less deeply than UVA.
  • Is the primary cause of sunburn.
  • Plays a key role in the development of skin cancer.
  • Contributes to photoaging.

Sun protection plays an important part of skin rejuvenation, skin care maintenance, and skin science in general. At Sparano Face and Nasal Institute, we have researched the merits of multiple types of sun protectant formulations. There are a few which we offer.
