Because of Dr. Sparano’s extensive experience with complex facial reconstruction following skin cancer removal, he has developed an interest in elective mole removal with refined techniques to minimize visible scarring. Mole removal is performed using local anesthesia in an office-based setting. Sutures are removed between days 6-7. Cover-up can be applied to the healing wound as early as day 10. A small dermabrasion is often recommended between weeks 6-12 to blend in the healing wound with the surrounding normal skin. In addition to performing the surgery, Dr. Sparano performs all suture removal, follow-up appointments, and associated dermabrasion himself. This maximizes likelihood for perfect wound healing.
